The Common Vertex and Dual Common Vertex Dampers have NVH performance and durabilty related defects inherent to their construction. The Arcovex™ spring-damper system alleviates these issues while retaining all the advantages of the former.
The Arcovex™ deviates from the traditional common vertex designs in that the axially opposing planar surfaces are replaced with spherical surfaces with two distinct radii that meet at the axial centerline sharing (1) an arcuate common vertex; and (2) a point of mutual tangency . It is this geometrical construction that allows the cross-section of the Arcovex™ spring-damper to taper as it approaches the axial centerline.
- The Arcovex™ construction can be extended to any existing CV-TVD or DCV-TVD with minimal tooling change.
- There is a significant improvement over traditional CV-TVD and DCV-TVD designs with respect to modal decoupling.
- There is a significant improvement in over traditional CV-TVD and DCV-TVD designs with respect to durability.
- The Arcovex™ construction is radially more compact over traditional CV-TVD and DCV-TVD designs.
